Understanding Banner Size and Placement
Banners come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and to be able to place adds successfully you need to understand what banner is going to fit into the space on your website. It is always going to work best in a visible spot which is often above the fold at the top of any web page. The add should in some way relate to the context of what the web page is about to ensure that it does get clicked on. To understand the different sizes and how they will work for you it is a matter of trial and error until you get the right formula for your website.
Banner sizes are measured in "pixels". One of the most successful and commonly used banners we use is a "300 x 250" sized banner.the column to the right is 300 pixels in width so this size adds fits perfectly. At the very bottom of the page is a google text/banner add that is 728 x 90 pixels - this is another commonly used sized banner that you will often see at the top or bottom of websties.. Some text adds are also referred to using this same pixel measurement. Placed high up on the page or in a location that works on your website ( you may have to experiment to find the best spot.) -
